Who can obtain public records?

Any person may request examination of public records or copies, printouts or photographs thereof during regular office hours, in a manner that does not disrupt business. They may also request that the records are mailed or emailed.

Do I have to use the online submission form to request public records?

No, you do not need to use the online submission form to request public records, however, it is highly encouraged in order to process your request faster and to avoid speculation and ambiguity.

Do I have to state why I want the public record?

It depends, if the public record is for non-commercial use, you are not required to state what you will be using the public record for.

If the public record is for commercial use, you must provide the purpose of the request.

Do I need to provide my mailing address on the records request form?

No, if you wish to obtain the records by electronic means, we just need you to provide a good email address to send the records to.

If you would like copies mailed to you, you will need to provide a good address. (Fee’s will apply).

How long will it take for me to receive my records?

The law requires prompt disclosure. Requests are processed in the order in which they are received. The amount of time it takes to complete each public records request can vary based on reasonable circumstances, such as Cochise County’s resources, the complexity of the request, and the content of the records (if redactions are needed).
